Project Overview

iDig Stay was designed for dogs that like to dig. Digging is a canine trait more present in most dog breeds, although some more than others. For those dogs that really love to dig, this behavior can become problematic for their owners.

This project was a comprehensive product development endeavor, with an intense research phase where dog behavior was closely studied. After the heavy research phase, our responsibilities included soft-goods prototyping, branding, refinement. Mechanical engineering.

With iDig Go we had to explore several directions and approaches to create a foldable digging toy. Using the knowledge, we gathered from our initial research, we created several prototypes to test. We looked at several collapsing products for inspiration and found that the laundry basket approach showed potential.

With this solution we were able to create a large playing area, that could fold into a quarter of its size for storage. The structure of the product was a flexible flat wire, with material characteristics that only allows it to bend in two dimensions.
